SOUTH PARK Goes Even Bigger and Longer
ViacomCBS has just signed South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to a new deal that will run through 2027, and include 14 new South Park movies made exclusively for Paramount+. Beginning with two new South Park movies this year, the deal also includes the flagship South Park series renewed through Season 30. Get more details at The Hollywood Reporter.
A Peek at the New LORD OF THE RINGS Series
You’ll have to wait until next year for the highly anticipated, yet-to-be titled Amazon Original The Lord of the Rings television series to premiere— it’s set for Friday, September 2, 2022 on Prime Video. In the meantime, you’ll have to settle for this first look at the new epic drama that brings to screens for the very first time J.R.R. Tolkien’s fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. Oh the torture of anticipation!
And the July Streaming Winners Are…
Take a look at the movies and TV series we streamed most in July… No real surprises on the movie side — remember that Black Widow came out towards the end of the month, or she might be higher. On the streaming side, who knew Rick and Morty was so popular? (everyone but me, apparently). Expect Ted Lasso to be even higher in August, as the second season arrives.

“Hi. It’s Bob. Thank you. To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week. And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me. It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much,” he wrote on Twitter. “I had a small heart attack. But I’m going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery. Also, AMC and Sony’s support and help throughout this has been next-level. I’m going to take a beat to recover but I’ll be back soon.”

Prayers for Bob Odenkirk
Stellar actor and consummate great guy Bob Odenkirk collapsed on the Albuquerque, New Mexico set of Breaking Bad Tuesday and was rushed to the hospital, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cause of the collapse is unknown. Odenkirk, 58, was filming the sixth and final season of the multi-award winning AMC show. Please join us in sending prayers, love and light his way.
New DEXTER Sneak Peek
Showtime’s Dexter revival, officially titled Dexter: New Blood, debuted a trailer super fun trailer during a recent Comic-Con at Home session. Showtime has set a Nov. 7 premiere date for the 10-episode revival, which picks up a decade after the original show’s finale. Take a look:
The Movies We Streamed Last Week
I have to admit I’m a little surprised that Space Jam: A New Legacy didn’t hit the number one spot, and just barely beat out the quirky Nicolas Cage movie Pig, that came in third. I was also surprised that A Quiet Place Part II held the No. 1 spot. Both most streamed films boosted their predecessors into the Top 10, with Space Jam appearing at No. 4 and A Quiet Place showing up at No. 6. Check out what else we watched:
Finally the Dead Stop Walking — See the Lead Up
A trailer for the final season of The Walking Dead dropped during Comic-Con at Home, and it looks like the last season will be satisfying. The 11th season of the hit AMC zombie series will be made up of 24 episodes. The first part premieres Aug. 22, and parts two and threewill air in 2022, with exact dates yet to be determined. And It’s a Take Off for Chip and Jo’s New Magnolia Network
Chip and Joanna Gaines new Magnolia Network launched last Thursday, and I was invited in with them and some of their newest stars to find out what it took to launch a network during the pandemic. They’ve even renovated their signature show, Fixer Upper. Check out what they, along with hosts Clint Harp, Candis and Andy Meredith, and Brian Patrick Flynn have to say about it. Mad Men Reunite!
Our two favorite Mad Men, John Slattery and Jon Hamm, are teaming up for a reboot of one of our favorite comedies, Fletch, based on Gregory McDonald’s mystery novel series. Hamm stars, of course, as I.M. Fletcher, the hotshot investigative reporter played by Chevy Chase in the 1985 neo-noir comedy of the same name. Other TV favorites, including Marcia Gay Harden, Kyle MacLachlan and Roy Wood Jr., will also star.
Lisey’s Story Review
Staci Layne Wilson’s Lisey’s Story review tells you what to expect from Apple TV+’s newest limited series based on a bestselling Stephen King novel — and it ain’t exactly non-stop thrills. Still, since the luminous Julianne Moore plays the title character and Clive Owen plays her celebrated author and successful husband, it can’t be all bad. Read the review here.
Magnolia Launches — Sort of
Chip and Joanna Gaines’ long awaited and much anticipated Magnolia Network has finally launched! But wait — it won’t be available on cable TV (the Discovery’s rebranded DIY channel) until January, but you can see it on a small screen near you if you subscribe to Discovery+. Complicated, yes but not a bad investment considering it’s only $4.99 per month and you also get all programming from HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Animal Planet and more.
