Ed Asner, Nov. 15, 1929 – Aug. 29, 2021
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of the incomparable Ed Asner, at age 91. Asner is a seven-time Emmy-winner, perhaps most noted for starring as Lou Grant on TV series The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant, as well as his touching voice work in Pixar’s 2009 animated film Up.
Personally, I will never forget Asner amiably allowing me to attempt to tame is wild eyebrows before conducting an on-camera interview. That, and chatting with as him as a neighbor occasionally when walking my dog through our ‘hood. Thanks, Ed — your spirit, talent and good nature will be missed.
See Chip Gaines’ New Buzz Cut!
Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines, who famously shaved his head four years ago to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, today unveiled his brand-new hairdo. After issuing a fundraising challenge on Instagram this past Monday, Gaines exceeded his fundraising goal and, as promised, shaved off his long locks. As of this morning, Chip was able to help raise more than $300,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. And while the campaign officially ends tonight at midnight, those who wish to continue chipping in to help raise even more money for St. Jude can continue to do so through the weekend via this link.

What We Watched at Home Last Week
People seemed to be into slightly ethereal movies last week, with The Green Night and Field of Dreams coming in first and second, respectively, and a number of horror movies on the list as well. The ultra avant garden Annette came in at #10.
As for TV shows, it was all about The White Lotus season finale on HBO Max, and the premiere of 8 Perfect Strangers on Hulu. Did you watch any of these? We did!

As if Tim Burton turning his hand to TV wasn’t enough to make us go mad, now we hear that he’s cast Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams in Burton’s upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, an eight-episode show based around the Addams Family.
