Halloween Programming Already? It’s Never Too Early on the Food Network
The Food Network and Cooking Channel are already getting into the Halloween spirit with 30 hours of programming through the end of the month. Already running are the seasonal Halloween Baking Championship on Mondays at 9:00 pm and Halloween Wars on Sundays also at 9:00 pm. Halloween Cake-Off airs Mondays at 10:00 pm. Then there’s Haunted Gingerbread Showdowns on Sundays at 10:00 pm.
The Cooking Channel also gets into the spooky action with Freakshow Cakes airing Fridays at 11 pm.
GRACE AND FRANKIE Bow Out
Get ready to say goodbye to the award winning comedy Grace and Frankie. Netflix has just ordered a 16-episode seventh and final season of the show, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
Believe it or not, that will make it the longest running show on Netflix. “It’s thrilling and somehow fitting that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, will be the oldest show on Netflix,” said co-creators and showrunners Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris. The final season will premiere in January 2020.
Bye Bye Leslie Jones and More SNL Updates
Looks like Leslie Jones is going the way of so many great comedians who got their starts on Saturday Night live, and leaving the venerated sketch comedy show to work on other projects. She will instead focus on her upcoming feature film projects and a Netflix comedy special.
Meanwhile, Kate McKinnon will be back for the upcoming 45th season, which premieres September 28. Woody Harrelson will host for the fourth time. The following week, Phoebe Waller-Bridge will debut as host, with Taylor Swift coming on as musical guest. David Harbour, Kristen Stewart and Eddie Murphy will also host this season.

As much as we love rising to the challenge of deciphering all those heavy brogues and figuring out what’s going to offend Claire’s delicate sensibilities next, it’s all about Jamie, isn’t it? And now Starz has released the long awaited news that the fifth season of Outlander will premiere…wait for it… Sunday, February 16, 2020. That should keep you warm on a cold winter’s night!
Hugh Laurie Alert!
Hugh Laurie (House, The Night Manager) is back on TV, and not a minute too soon, as far as I’m concerned. It was just announced that he’ll star in the BBC drama Roadkill, playing Peter Laurence, a self-made, charismatic British politician. It’s a four-part limmited series thriller written by David Hare, of Collateral fame. Produced by The Forge (National Treasure).

Yes Breaking Bad fans — thanks to Netflix, the sequel film will be coming your way on October 11. Dubbed El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, it will also air on AMC later on. Aaron Paul is back as Jesse Pinkman, and the official synopsis reads: “In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”
Other People’s Houses — I’d Watch it For the Title Alone!
I never can pass up the chance to go inside other people’s houses, especially when there’s an Open House sign in front. So when Fox announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar is heading back to primetime in a series called “Other People’s Houses,” how can I resist watching?
The series has been described as a suburban dramedy, somewhere between Big Little Lies and Catastrophe. Juicy! I’m in. I’ll keep you posted on a premiere date.

A Cheeky Cast of Competitors on DWT That I’d Actually Watch
Usually the Dancing With the Stars competitor announcement makes be go “Who?” but this time, it’s a cheeky cast with some amusing backgrounds that intrigue me. I may not love them all, but bless their hearts, it’s a crazy crew, both young and old, worth watching.
In case you’ve forgotten, they are: singer Ally Brooke (formerly of Fifth Harmony), Christie Brinkley, Bachelorette Hannah Brown, actor James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown, The Office’s Kate Flannery, All That‘s Kel Mitchell, former Laker Lamar Odom, American Idol season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina, the Supremes’ Mary Wilson, two-time Super Bowl MVP Ray Lewis and ex-Trump White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
Dancing With the Stars returns Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
AMERICAN SON — A Show to Look Forward to on Netflix
Based on the acclaimed Broadway play, American Son stars Emmy-nominee Kerry Washington, in a story of an interracial couple trying to find their missing teenage son. It will premiere on Netflix November 1.
Steven Pasquale, Jeremy Jordan and Eugene Lee reprise their roles in the adaptation which presents four distinct viewpoints, while also navigating the unique dynamic of an interracial couple trying to raise a mixed-race son.
The potential and the buzz are unlimited. Looks like event TV watching.
