A Soft-boiled Game of Thrones Prequel?
Another Game of Thrones prequel series is being developed at HBO. Called Tales of Dunk and Egg, it’s based on a set of novellas by George R.R. Martin. The stories are set almost 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg).
26th Annual Critics Choice Awards Announces TV Nominees
The hours of hard work we put in are beginning to pay off, as the 26th Annual Critics Choice Awards has just announced its roster of nominees, and I think it’s a fine bunch. My personal faves like Better Call Saul, The Crown, The Queen’s Gambit, Lovecraft Country and Unorthodox all got multiple nominations. Ethan Hawke Soars into Marvel
Frankly, after his riveting performance as abolitionist John Brown in limited series The Good Lord Bird, we couldn’t wait to see what the mesmerizing Ethan Hawke was up to next. We just got our answer — he’ll be making his comic book adaptation and super hero debut joining Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight, Marvel Studios series for Disney+. Hawke will play the lead villain. Netflix Does It Again
What’s up next for Netflix? The streamer is cementing its status as a behemoth with the annoucement that it will premiere “a new movie every week.” And these are not quickies produced on the cheap. They include the Zack Snyder-directed Army of the Dead, Don’t Look Up starring Jennifer Lawrence, the musical Tik, Tik… Boom! and the Dwayne Johnson actioner Red Notice, plus Halle Berry’s directorial debut in Bruised…among many others. And the Winners of the Critics Choice Super Awards Are…
Hey, it was a pretty good awards show, considering it was conducted virtually. Winners included Hulu and NEON’s Palm Springs and Disney+’s Soul in the film category. In the TV category, Amazon’s The Boys took home the most awards, earning a total of four including Best Superhero Series, Best Actor in a Superhero Series (Antony Starr), Best Actress in a Superhero Series (Aya Cash), and Best Villain in a Series (Antony Starr). Best TV News EVER!
For me, Sex and the City is one of those shows that I could watch over and over and over. I own the complete series set on DVD. So you can imagine my euphoria when I heard that HBO Max is making a revival of the beloved show. It will be called And Just Like That, and will feature three of the four original stars; Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. What? No Samantha? Find out more here.
Dexter Finds a Villain
We’re kind of obsessed with Showtime’s Dexter revival, and we were excited to hear that the series has found its villain. It will be none other than Clancy Brown, who will star opposite Michael C. Hall in the limited series. Brown will play a character named Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of a small town called Iron Lake, and will be the primary antagonist for Dexter the avenging serial killer. Perfect casting.
Chip and Jo Fans Rejoice! Magnolia Network Shows Now Available
Just because Chip and Joanna Gaines‘ new Magnolia Network launch has been postponed to “sometime in 2021,” doesn’t mean you can’t watch some of its home reno, cooking and more programming.
