Hot Dog! Sign Up Frankie Feldman
Frankie Feldman just LOVES a good grooming, especially now, after having gone without one for so long. So we’re thrilled to hear that HBO Max has ordered a new grooming competition series with the working title of Hot Dog, from Jax Media and Nicolle Yaron of Making It fame. The 12-episode series was inspired by the coffee table book and social media popularity of celebrity dog groomer Jess Rona. The only question is, how does Frankie Feldman get on the show? He obviously has no qualms about social distancing, so he’s totally up for it any time, anywhere.
Seems We Just Can’t Get Enough of Chip and Jo
It looks like Discovery Inc.’s plan to rebrand its DIY Network as Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network will pay off. Sunday’s four-hour Magnolia Presents: A Look Back & A Look Ahead programming on DIY drew 2.3 million viewers, a +195% improvement over the net’s prior six-week average and a +402% increase over year-ago levels. The four episodes rank as four of the top five telecasts in DIY’s history among age 25-54 ratings. Magnolia Network planned to launch October 4, but that date has been abandoned thanks to production holdups due to the health crisis, and a new date has not yet been scheduled.
Artemis Fowl — Disney+ Brings Big Screen Entertainment to the Small Screen
Disney’s new live-action film Artemis Fowl will be released on Disney+ beginning Friday, June 12. Kenneth Branagh, directs the fantastical adventure that was scheduled to be released in theaters, but moved to the small screen because of the pandemic. It’s about a twelve year old criminal mastermind whose own family means everything to him, according to Branagh. And it looks phenomenal. See the trailer below:

Apple TV scores again! The streamer has ordered a limited comedy series called The Shrink Next Door, starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd, back together again after their Anchorman antics. It’s an eight-part dark comedy is based on the Wondery and Bloomberg Media podcast. Don’t ask when it will premiere, because no one knows for sure. But producers and creators are getting VERY creative with production these days, so it might be sooner than you think.

If you’re going to be watching TV non-stop, why not get paid for it? That’s how documentary streaming service MagellanTV feels. They’ll pay someone to watch 24 hours of true crime documentaries “They can handle the creepiest serial killer, the grizzliest details, and the haunting spookiness of the paranormal.” Of course, whoever gets the job will have to post on social media non-stop, so “their followers can watch to see if they crack…or not,” the website says. Most people couldn’t survive quarantine without Netflix, whose streaming plans go from $8.99 per month to $15.99 per month, depending on the definition and number of screens you watch it on. And most people get Amazon’s streaming service along with their Prime delivery service. But many are puzzled about the other services — Hulu, Diseny+, Quibi, ESPN, CBS All Access and Peacock, just to name a few. What’s a poor sequestered soul to do?
The best deal I’ve found so far is a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, all for only $12.95. The same services would cost you $17.97 per month if you signed up for each service individually. It’s only a $5 savings, but these days, ever little bit counts, right? Even though ESPN doesn’t have much to offer these days, once things go back to semi-normal, it will be essential for sports fans.
