You’ll find the Derek Fisher house for sale at $6,995,000, and no matter how many unfortunate incidents have occurred in the basketball great’s life of late, I’ll always remember him fondly for entertaining me so well for so many years as a member of the NBA championship Lakers. I hope he gets full asking price for his 9,406-square-foot spread in Hidden Hills, the oh-so-chic-but bucolic celebrity enclave near Calabasas.

Life hasn’t been easy for Fisher of late. How dreadful to be fired by your former Lakers coach Phil Jackson, after coaching the Knicks for less than two seasons. Fisher may have five NBA championships to his credit, but nary a winning season as coach. Then there were those surprise divorce papers he served to Candace, his wife of 11 years, and that very public spat with former teammate Matt Barnes, when Fisher was caught dating Barnes’ then separated wife.

Since the Fishers purchased the 1.13-acre property in June 2009 for $5.5 million, we’re thinking an approximately $1.4 million profit might serve as a much needed pick me up.

Of course, not all of that would be profit. The Fishers did spend several hundred thousand dollars on improvements, including adding dark hickory flooring, new lighting, architectural moldings and elegant neutral shades throughout the home. They also built out the master closets and expanded the kitchen.

Built in 2007, the house now has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half-baths. Other buildings on the property include horse stables (Hidden Hills is rife with equestrian trails) and a guesthouse with a living room, bedroom, and kitchenette.

I love the backyard, with its large pool with fountains and water wall. There are also expansive lawns, mature foliage, and rose beds, which might be a bit of a challenge to keep fresh and blooming in these times of draught, but swanky neighbors like Jennifer Lopez and the Kardashians seem to be managing.
