Oscar Party

Come awards season, the golden ticket gifting event is Doris Bergman’s Style Lounge and Party in honor of the Academy Awards. Held annually at Fig & Olive – THE Hollywood hotspot on Melrose Place, the event not only features fabulous gifts and new products, but F&O’s signature French and Italian cuisine. All this and lunch too? Sign me up!

Yes, that’s a Maserati that George Chakiris, (former Oscar Winner, Best Supporting Actor, West Side Story) is sitting in. I got to sit in it too, as Maserati and The Auto Gallery were Presenting Sponsors.  But I didn’t get to take one home.

Here’s a list of some of the fabulous goodies guests did get to take home:

Amazing jewelry from the creative women at Twisted Silver, and beautiful bracelets with a message from My Saint My Hero.

A lovely bag from Samiah Fine Clothing, which specializes in gorgeous clothing that would look right at home at a Steam Punk party or the Edwardian Ball.

Some of the best shampoo and conditioner I’ve ever used (and my husband agrees because he insists on lathering up with it too now) from the 2-Minute Club. It totally reverses hair damage with Aloe Vera, Red Korean Seaweed and other helpful ingredient. Below see Cas Avnar, who received a 2016 Oscar nomination for the film Room, ready to take some home.Oscar Party

Arbonne reps were on hand to introduce us to their skin care, makeup and health lines. My sources tell me that their 30-day cleanse is beyond amazing.

Azul Imperial Tequila allowed us to try and take home their super-smooth libations. I’m not generally a tequila fan, due to an unfortunate multiple shot experience in my youth, but Azul Imperial is causing me to reconsider.

Speaking of drinks, we were also able to try and take home Rekorderlig Cider — I chose the pear, but there are several varieties. What a treat!

Ascend Cleanse from Australian rocker Laura Wilde is a new way to stay healthy and lose weight. Looks like actress Eva La Rue (below) enjoyed it. I particularly loved their teas — a tasty way to wake up or wind down.

Fit For A Belle athletic wear has an interesting and original concept: stylish workout clothes for those in the weight lifting set. The shirt and bra that I took home made me feel powerful, yet feminine at the same time.

Hint Water — carbonated and flavored, gave me just the pick me up I needed to proceed.

I’m definitely going to have to circle back to expert Yogi Mahankirn, an intuitive healer who not only works with your soul, but your environment as well.

Author and Realtor Debbi DiMaggio gave us all a copy of her latest book “The Art of Real Estate,” which I’ve already consulted several times in my writing for AtHomeInHollywood.com.

Presenting Sponsor the Center for Aesthetic Dentistry gave out certificates for free consultations, which makes sense at an Oscar party because we could all use a little help with our smiles on the Red Carpet.  Kelsey Scott, from the 2014 Oscar-winning picture 12 Years A Slave, really looks as if she’s enjoying it (below)

The glass Handmade Hearts By Hillel are always interesting and fun to see.

I loved being introduced to Spongelle, whose fragrant and shapely sponges with cleansers have become a new staple in my shower.

My husband appreciated the pocket square and bowtie provided by Art Lewin Bespoke Executive Clothiers.

And speaking of haute clothing, it’s always good to see reps and styles from L.A.’s very own Sue Wong. LOVE HER!

I’m sure actor Ernie Hudson (below) is going to take that Nu Bra home to his wife. They were focusing on their invisible, backless, strapless bras that hide embarrassing details with strap-free, back-free gowns.

Other products showcased included: Personal Touch, Telic Footwear, Josh Cellars Wine, Kaya Di Koko, Single Dress, Single Underwear for Men, Faux Pas Women’s Wear, Di Snapback Chapeaus, Masterpan, Veved Ice Vodka, Blue Can Water, Clif Bar, Luna Bar, Cultures For Health, Basics Wallets and VIP Gift Bags provided by MD Sun Skin Care.

And in the spirit of giving back, guests and sponsors donated unwrapped gifts for young adults (ages 13-18) for a gift drive benefitting ‘Wednesday’s Child,’ a weekly segment airing on KTTV FOX 11 News, Los Angeles, with Anchor Christine Devine. In Los Angeles County, alone, there are over 35,000 children receiving child welfare services,” says social worker, Professor William Wong. Bergman always invites two foster children to join in on the festivities and experience what it feels like to be treated as a VIP.
