Taylor Swift Buys Goldwyn Estate — Go Inside

Not to be cliche, but I am among the billions who really like Taylor Swift. I like her bouncy music and I admire her chutzpah for standing up to music distributors and purveyors who have been cheating artists and gleefully pocketing the proceeds for decades. And now, I respect her taste in real estate, because instead of buying one of the glitzy new Hollywood Hills mansions that she could easily afford, she has purchased the historically significant Samuel Goldwyn estate. It looks as though Swift would rather be walking the same halls as Hollywood icons like Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, Cole Porter and Frank Capra, than swilling alcohol from a two-story chute on a pulsing neon vodka bar.
And get this: the 25-year-old music mogul paid $25 million cash for this grand Beverly Hills estate.
Listed at $27,995,000, Swift actually paid below asking price for the property, built in 1934 by Hollywood heavy hitter Samuel Goldwyn Sr., the guy who put the ‘G’ in MGM. When he passed away he left the house to his son, Samuel Goldwyn, Jr., who produced more than 30 films, including Mystic Pizza, Master and Comander, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. He died in January, and Swift bought the property from his estate.

So Swift will now be enjoying a nearly two acre property nestled in the hills behind the Beverly Hills Hotel, just off the chicest part of Sunset Boulevard. The main residence has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a library, a 35mm projection theater, a card room, a gym, an updated kitchen, and a guest suite with a private entrance, among other ammenities.

The grounds include staff lodging above the garage, a sunken and lighted tennis court, a pool with a pool house, plus manicured gardens and lawns, with multiple water features and sitting areas.

But don’t expect Swift to be spending the majority of her time in this storied property. The cross-over crooning queen has become quite the real estate Baroness of late. Her portfolia includes another, smaller Beverly Hills estate, a duplex penthouse and a Greek Revival residence on about six acres in Nashville, a seaside estate in Rhode Island, and Peter Jackson’s former spacious, two-unit duplex penthouse in lower Manhattan.
