A Friend In Need of a Buyer — The Posh, Matthew Perry Penthouse Hits the Market
Priced at $35 million, the Matthew Perry penthouse in Century City is a far cry from the cramped New York apartment Chandler Bing shared with his Friends.
In real life, Friends star Matthew Perry is quite the real estate investor. Like his fellow “Friend” Courteney Cox, Perry has bought, sold, and renovated a number of residential properties. His latest project is a posh penthouse in Los Angeles that he’s just put on the market for $35 million.
He purchased the circular penthouse—which occupies the entire 40th floor of the Wilshire Corridor’s elite Century Building—in 2017 for $20 million. He then invited his favored architect, Scott Joyce, and designer of choice, LM Pagano, to give the unit a full Hollywood makeover.
And the duo did their part to glam it up. The four-bedroom penthouse seems to float over L.A., but the star of the show might be the reconfigured master suite. It comes with killer views, a fireplace, and a clever layout unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
“The property is a true mansion in the sky. It’s a rare opportunity to own a full floor in one of the most desirable high-rise residential buildings in the country,” says Greg Holcomb, who is co-listing the property with Cassandra Petersen, also of Compass.
Holcomb added, “The home was transformed to exude a chic but fun sense of style and sophistication.”
There’s a plush living room with incredible views, and a luxe screening room that can be covered by blackout shades, providing complete darkness when it’s movie time.
The entire place has remarkable views and is surrounded by four spacious terraces. The massive outdoor spaces are unusual in L.A. condos.
The building offers a whole suite of additional amenities for owners, including round-the-clock concierge and security, an oversized pool with cabanas, a top-of-the-line gym, a fitness studio, movie theater, and private wine storage.
The building also offers elite neighbors. Right above Perry’s penthouse, occupying the 41st and 42nd floors, is none other than Candy Spelling, who moved in a few years after she sold the famous Spelling Manor.
So why is Perry parting with this très chic chateau in the clouds, after he’s just tricked it out?
According to a spokesperson familiar with the actor and his real estate escapades, he’s “now spending more time in New York, and his visits to Los Angeles are typically spent residing at his beach house in Malibu.”
