Star Wars, Louboutin

“When I think of Star Wars, I think of haute couture high-heel shoes!” Said no one, ever.

But that may all change, now that high end shoe designer Christian Louboutin has gone to the galaxy far, far away. Well, at least—Disney. Following cool collaborations celebrating the releases of Cinderella (2012) and Maleficent (2014), Mr. Louboutin is pleased to once again team up with The Walt Disney Studios to commemorate the opening of the latest, highly anticipated entry in the beloved saga—Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The couture kicks are inspired by four of the flick’s finest heroines: Rey (Daisy Ridley), Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran).

“A heel, for a woman, is also a type of weapon,” Louboutin explained while diving into the details of the signature shoes created inspired by the fighting females of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The golden Rose shoe, echoing the color of her engineer’s jumpsuit, is the most practical design with the signature Louboutin stiletto swathed in a sturdier structureThe twinkling purple Holdo heel matches Holdo’s hair and burgundy cape. The chrome curves of the Phasma shoe are a nod to her armor. The Rey has a leather ankle strap and a translucent PVC base celebrating her Jedi clout.

But the pièce de résistance is a spiked blue heel echoing Rey’s Last Jedi weapon of choice, a blue lightsaber. As Louboutin put it: “The saber on the heel—I put the power on the heel. Rey is the one with the Force, she is the Jedi and a very physical and reactive person.”

The First Lady of Star Wars, Carrie Fisher’s Leia, was not forgotten. Leia is “almost every character,” Louboutin said. “She has been powerful, funny, feminine, dominating, fragile, secretive, delicate, shy, respected, lonely. There is a part of her character that goes to every single character.”

These stylish Star Wars Louboutin shoes are destined to awaken the force. We know Storm Troopers can’t wear strappy sandals, but Star Wars fans can…that’s is, if you’re willing to bid. These babies unfortunately won’t be sold in stores, as one pair of each style will be signed by both the designer and the actress who plays each character and then exclusively auctioned off by Charity Buzz from now through Dec. 20.

A portion of the proceeds from the Star Wars Louboutin shoe auction will benefit Starlight Children’s Foundation, which creates moments of joy and comfort for hospitalized kids and their families. For 35 years, Starlight’s programs have positively impacted more than 60 million critically, chronically and terminally ill or injured children in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.
