Alfonso Ribeiro SellsAh, the price of fame. Or more accurately put, ah, the price you can get for you home when you’re famous. Even Alfonso Ribeiro famous. The TV star who began his career in Silver Spoons, then graduated to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and is most recently known for hosting America’s Funniest Home Videos has just sold a five bedroom home on an 8,369 square foot lot in Toluca Lake for $1.45 million.

He bought the home for $729,000 about 12 years ago, and expanded it to 3,900 square feet. Even in L.A.’s inflated real estate market, for the neighborhood and the quality of the finishes, I’m thinking the 44-year-old did pretty well for himself. The rooms are not huge and the neighbors are relatively close.

But the Toluca Lake area is excellent. Stars from Bob Hope to Steve Carrell to Megan Fox have lived there.

And Toluca Lake is a bit more posh than Granada Hills, where Ribeiro recently purchased a contemporary Mediterranean, built in 2005, for $1,937,500. His new casa has eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms in 7,530 square feet of living space.

But it’s the home’s party ready features that really catch the eye.  Chief among them is a solar-heated swimming pool with a grotto, a waterfall, a slide, a spa and a swim-up bar with four seats. There’s also an outdoor man cave with a barbecue, a brick pizza oven, a sink, an ice maker, a “kegerator,” and a refrigerator.

And if that’s not enough, there’s a recreation/pool house of about 1,500 square feet that includes game space, disco lighting, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bath. Oh, and a basketball half-court.

A property like this in Toluca Lake would have set him back at least $5 million, I’m thinking. So here we see that the old adage rings true once again: The three most important features in real estate are location, location, location.
