Frankie Feldman, the Most Interesting Dog in the World, encourages you to “Stay thirsty, my friends.”

Do you ever feel guilty about going out to so many festive holiday parties and leaving your poor pooch at home? Now you have a way to make it up to Fido or Fluffy, with Bowser Beer and Cigar Sausages.

Bowser Beer cockadoodle brewNo silly, it’s not real beer. Do you think I would actually give alcohol to Frankie Feldman (no matter how adorable he looks when he begs)? Bowser Beer is a fun, healthy beverage for dogs made with USDA chicken or beef, malt barley and glucosamine, with no hops or alcohol. It comes in three flavors, Beefy Brown Ale, Cock-a-Doodle Brew and Porky Pug Porter. I’ll let you guess which one is Frankie Feldman’s favorite.

Bowser BeerAnd here’s the kicker: You can customize your own labels! Send ’em a photo, and they’ll put your doggie’s mug on the front, allowing you to name your own brand. A friend of mine ordered “Best Buds Brew,” with an adorable pic of her dog and her favorite friend. You can see hilarious examples here, if you need inspiration.

So what do you do with this tasty libation after you’re done admiring the packaging? I drizzle it over Frankie’s kibble and he scarfs it right up, although other serving suggestions include mixing it with pumpkin, flavoring the water bowl, or pouring it over crushed ice on a hot day, for a doggie margarita. Little paper umbrellas are probably not a good idea, though.

Bowser Beer And if that’s not enough, there are the authentic looking cigar sausages, ($2.50 each) that are made of deli-style beef or turkey, plus wholesome grains (rice flour) and natural preservatives. They contain absolutely no corn, wheat, soy or tobacco. Bowser Beer also offers “Puptato Chips,” which are all natural sweet potato dog treats that are dried, not fried. As you know, sweet potatoes are good for doggy digestion and a great source of vitamins and minerals. These are perfect little stocking stuffers for the ankle biter on your list.

Bowser Beer You can order a six-pack of Bowser Beer for $23.99 plus postage and handling. Rest assured that although those bottles look like glass, they are durable plastic. They’re the ideal canine New Years treat, but if you’re in a hurry to get them by Christmas, you can pay extra for special delivery, or call ahead to your local World Market. I found a few bottles at the one in my hood.

Yes, we’re gushing over these goodies, but no, we’re not getting paid to do so. Okay, we did receive free samples, but if we hadn’t loved them, we wouldn’t have written about them, or taken Frankie Feldman’s invaluable time to arrange this very serious photo shoot. We’re just in it to share the love — and the fun. Cheers, Darlings! Here’s mud in your eye.
