Designing Woman Annie Potts Lists Her Hot Hacienda

Annie Potts' Hot Hacienda Water FeaturesYes, Annie Potts had a heavy hand in designing and remodeling this sprawling Tarzana Spanish Hacienda. And yes, she did her television series persona proud. I’m in love with the way she added her colorful flair to a 1934 structure, and still managed to keep its old world charm. The Andalusian hued kitchen knocked me out, as did the cheetah print she added in the living room. The outdoor patio areas are absolutely brilliant, and oh, that clever tree house! All this while keeping and in fact highlighting the traditional red-tiled roof, thick plaster walls, wooden beams and Spanish tile inlays.Annie Potts' Hot Hacienda Kitchen

But will she get her listing price of $6,495,000 million for it? She and her husband, producer/director James Hayman, purchased the five bedroom, six bath home in 2003 for $2.5 million, and Potts spent the next 11 years renovating and redesigning. The fact that it’s a one-story spread makes it extra attractive to older buyers who don’t want to deal with stairs, and to younger buyers who don’t want their young children to have to deal with stairs. Easy access to great schools and to country clubs also makes it appealing to both demos.

So why, you may ask, is Annie Potts leaving such a plush paradise? Well, it seems that the actress who recently appeared on Broadway in Pippen, is spending a lot more time in New York these days, and thinks this dream house should be enjoyed by a more constant resident. Meanwhile, her husband is working on NCIS: New Orleans down south.

If you’d like to see more fabulous photos and get more info on this gorgeous house, see my article on HGTV’s Frontdoor.com.  Anne Burkin of The Agency has the listing.
