The High-Octane Digger Trailer Astounds
If the Academy gave out awards for trailers, you can be sure the Digger trailer would be a major contender. I haven’t been this excited about a trailer since, well, since…I can’t even remember a trailer that got me this excited.
Just to clue you in, Digger stars Academy Award winner Tom Cruise in bizarre makeup and prosthetics reminiscent of his jaw dropping appearance as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder.
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu directs what the Digger trailer makes look like a surefire blockbuster original from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
The plot involves the most powerful man in the world (the titular Digger) who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.
Cruise stars in the title role, alongside Oscar winner Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons. Robert John Burke, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman and Sophie Wilde also star.
Joining Iñárritu behind the camera are previous collaborators Oscar-winning director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki; editors Conor O’Neill and Oscar winner Stephen Mirrone; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West; Oscar-winning makeup and hair designer Alessandro Bertolazzi; and Oscar-nominated casting director Francine Maisler; along with Oscar-winning production designer Dennis Gassner and production designer Richard Johnson, Oscar-winning prosthetic makeup designer Kazu Hiro, and composer Cosmo Sheldrake.
Iñárritu directed from a screenplay by Iñárritu and Oscar-winners Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone, and Sabina Berman, story by Iñárritu & Berman.
The film is produced by Iñárritu, Oscar nominee Mary Parent, Cruise and Michael Sharp, and executive produced by Joshua Grode, Berman, Dinelaris, Giacobone, Jez Butterworth and Emmanuel Lubezki.
The Digger trailer alone has 4 posters!

How will we ever wait until the film is released in theaters and IMAX® across North America on October 2, 2026, and internationally beginning 30 September 2026?
An Alejandro G. Iñárritu Film, the Digger trailer depicts a film shot entirely in VistaVision. When tickets go on sale, I’m thinking this Digger trailer will ignite a ticket buying frenzy the likes of what we saw for Christopher Nolan‘s Odyssey. I’ll keep you posted.
