Critics Choice TV awards Adolescence, 31st annual Critics Choice Awards

So many of you ask me about the most important films and performances to see this year. Many (but not all) of them are reflected in the nominations for the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards, which were recently released.

Yes, I voted to nominate some of them, but certainly not all of them. I’d love to hear what you think of the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards nominees, and which ones you think I should vote for—also which ones got you believe got robbed.

All the winners will be revealed at the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards gala, hosted by Chelsea Handler, to be broadcast live on E! and USA Network on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Watch for me there, as I’ll be at the star-studded show, once again held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

A quick summary of the nominees for the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards nominees

Sinners leads the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards film contenders with an impressive 17 nominations, nearly matching the record of 18 that Barbie achieved two years ago. Sinners collected a nod for Best Picture, while cast members Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku, and Miles Caton are up for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Young Actor / Actress respectively.

Ryan Coogler was recognized in the categories of Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, and the film also received nods for Best Casting and Ensemble, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects, Best Stunt Design, Best Song, Best Score, and Best Sound.

One Battle After Another followed closely behind Sinners, earning 14 nominations. I heartily support all these nominations!

How about you? Check out the list of 31st annual Critics Choice Awards contenders below and let me which ones you support, and which ones you think we’re out of our minds to nominate.
