Game of Thrones is the most nominated, with Westworld and SNL right behind

Nominees for the 70^th Primetime Emmy Awards were just announced, and as usual, I think some shows were overrated, some were underrated, but I do applaud the diversity.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” grabbed the most nods with 22; NBC’s SNL and HBO’s “Westworld,” (which I couldn’t get into this season) each earned 21. Netflix surpassed HBO as the most nominated network or platform with 112 nominations to the premium cablers’ 108.

FX’s “The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” drew the most nominations for a limited series with 18 nods, while fellow FX title “Atlanta” was the most nominated comedy series at 16.

In case you were wondering, some of your favorite winners of the past did not air during this official awards eligibility season, including “Veep,” “Master of None,” “Better Call Saul” and “House of Cards.”

Final voting takes place August 13-27. The 70th annual Primetime Emmys will air on NBC on Sept. 17, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with SNL’s Colin Jost and Michael Che hosting.
