Neiman Marcus Outdoes Itself…Again
I try to wait until after Thanksgiving to think about Christmas shopping, but once the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book arrives, I just can’t help myself. Every year the Fantasy Gifts get more and more amazing, and this year it’s no exception. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wake up Christmas morning to find a special, limited edition Maserati in their garage? (Hint Hint, Jim)
And that’s not even the most expensive fantasy gift this year. That honor goes to the House of Creed Bespoke Fragrance Journey at $475,000. It involves creating your own signature fragrance by flying first class to Paris, where you’ll visit the House of Creed atelier and meet with sixth-generation Master Perfumer Olivier Creed to create you custom scent. While there, you and your partner dine with Olivier, enjoy five-star accommodations, white-glove car service, private tours, and other amazing experiences. A few months later, your fragrance arrives at your doorstep in 24 14-karat gold-gilded six-liter flacons and 12 14-karat gold-accented leather atomizers.
The annual His and Hers Gifts are Vilebrequin Quadskis, a Jet ski/ ATV combo that converts from water to land in just under five seconds. They accelerate up to 45 mph on land or water, thanks to their 1300cc BMW engine, and only cost $50,000 each — more than the cost of most of our cars.
My personal favorite is the Leontine Linens Home Trousseau, which includes a home visit from Leontine founder Jane Scott Hodges, author of “Linens: For Every Room and Occasion.” Together, you will select monogrammed bed, bath, and table linens for every room in your house from the master bedroom to the pool house. This is a relative bargain at $55,000.
And the craziest, in my opinion? The Preston Bailey Large Outdoor Garden Peacock, from the event planner to celebrities, royalty, CEOs, and athletes. He’ll create a gigantic floral peacock available in two sizes: A 6’-tall garden version with a 10′-long tail composed of silk flowers and seasonal plantings for $65,000, or a 3’-tall indoor version with a 5′-long tail made of silk flowers for $25,000.
If you’re not up to spending $65,000 on something that looks vaguely like a Rose Parade float, fear not. There’s a little something for everyone in this year’s catalogue. The least expensive item, retailing for $15, is a Molton Brown Bubble Bath Bauble.
