Calabasas Chateau Featured in Mariah Carey’s ‘I Don’t’ Music Video Premieres on the Market for $28.7M
Of all the glamorous mansions in the greater Los Angeles area, pop star Mariah Carey chose this famed, European-style chateau as the backdrop for the music video of her 2017 hit “I Don’t.”
Now, the Calabasas, CA, spread is up for grabs. Snag it, if you have $28,750,000 to spare.

In the video, the diva is shown posing in a convertible Rolls Royce parked in front of the unmistakable estate. The video culminates with Carey burning her wedding dress in the fire pit (that’s still on the premises).
The YouTube video from seven years ago has garnered some 28 million views, and counting.
‘Exquisite property’
The real-life residence is no less dramatic. Built in 2010, the 17,000-square-foot mansion was designed by prominent architect Richard Drummond Davis.
You’ll have to pass through not one but two privacy gates to get to the 1.1-acre property, nestled within the celebrity-filled enclave known as The Estates of The Oaks.
The exclusive area has been home to many A-listers, including the Kardashians, Katie Holmes, Britney Spears, Ozzy Osbourne, and Justin Bieber.
The seven-bedroom, 10-bath property is currently the priciest home for sale in Calabasas.
Listing agent Rachella Moghadam, of Calabasas Coldwell Banker Realty, calls it “one of the most exquisite properties in all of Calabasas” and an “architectural masterpiece of French influence and design.”
Snazzy showpiece
Built with “the finest European materials,” it really is a showpiece in a posh neighborhood full of ultraluxe homes. The limestone exterior alone seems to sparkle under a gleaming slate roof, and the property is impressively accented by topiary hedges that are manicured into elaborate designs.
Inside, it seems that no surface has been left unadorned. Ornate pillars, inlaid-marble floors, elaborate moldings, crystal chandeliers, intricately carved woodwork, curlicue wrought iron, and gold leafing are found in nearly every room.
Classically styled rooms make up much of the main floor, which includes a two-story formal living room, a formal dining room, an additional great room, a bespoke office, and a gourmet kitchen.
Each of the seven bedrooms is spacious and has its own bath, while five have their own private balconies. The primary wing is positively palatial, with city and mountain views, a grand fireplace, sitting area, and dual walk-in closets. A marble-clad bath with a glass-walled, octagonal steam shower; Jacuzzi bathtub; and private sauna round out the opulent suite.
Other fancy features include a screening room with an adjacent bar, a wine cellar and tasting room, a paneled library, and outdoor pavilions with statuary.
Lavish landscape
The grounds are equally ornate, featuring a 110-foot infinity pool and spa accented by cascading waterfalls and Italian limestone bridges. There’s also a covered barbecue pavilion with an outdoor dining area, rolling lawns, a fruit orchard, and that infamous fire pit from Carey’s video.
The property has been on and off the market a number of times since 2020, at prices ranging from $32 million to its current ask.
An estate this specialized requires a particularly discriminating buyer, the listing notes. So, it stands to reason that it could take a while to find a perfect match.
