This Malibu Home, Also From the Movie ‘Heat,’ Sizzles on the Market at $21M

The Michael Mann film “Heat,” starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, was a love letter of sorts to Los Angeles, showcasing dozens of locations and spectacular homes in the famed city.

Now, two homes that were featured in the ’90s action flick are on the market.

The latest listing is a glamorous Malibu retreat used as the set for De Niro’s pad in the movie. It’s available for $21 million.

It sits right on the beach in Malibu Cove Colony, the guard-gated celebrity enclave whose residents have included Tom Hanks, Woody Harrelson, Jeff Bridges, Bette Midler, Tori Spelling, Bill Murray, and Kevin Kline.

This particular home, modern in style, was built in 1982 by architect Ron Goldman, who took full advantage of the waterfront setting, incorporating floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights, sliding glass doors, and expansive decks—all with unobstructed views of the beach and the ocean beyond.

Discreet from the street, as many of the best homes in Malibu are, this property is all about its beach side. It is situated so close to the surf, it will make you feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship.

The four-bedroom, three-bath layout has intriguing geometric angles and symmetry, including a floating staircase that is as visually arresting as it is practical.

The home has also been available for rent for as much as $80,000 per month during the summer, when studio executives, recording artists, and professional athletes often take up vacation residence in the star-studded town.

During the colder months, it’s been listed for $60,000 per month.

Another house featured in “Heat” is also on the market right now. That would be the iconic stilt house in Los Angeles. Supported by a sinewy system of stilts and jutting over a hillside, it offers views of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory.

“Heat,” which was released in 1995, featured an all-star cast that included Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, and the late Tom Sizemore.
