Robin Gibson, the founder of St Tropez self-tanner products, has put her luxe and lavish Calabasas palazzo known as Villa Bellezza on sale!
The lavish Southern California mansion known as Villa Bellezza is back on the market at a 20% discount.
The ornate estate in Calabasas with a life-sized chess set and a retractable glass ceiling was available last year for $29,995,000. The 15,745-square-foot mansion was recently relisted with a more “reasonable” $24 million price tag.
Villa Belleza was a six-year labor of love for Robin Gibson, the founder of St. Tropez self-tanning products. She spent significant time in Italy in search of inspiration, materials, and craftsmen to build this Italianate wonder. Bringing her fantasy to fruition, architect William Hablinski came up with a structure that resembles a palazzo on Lake Como.
Gibson paid $1,160,010 for the 1.3-acre lot in a double-gated community in 2003. Then she spent approximately $18 million on the home’s construction, which was completed in 2010.
The Many Wonders of Villa Bellezza
The seven-bedroom, 10-bath mansion features “a breakfast rotunda with floor-to-ceiling windows” as well as a “resplendent great room with 28-foot ceilings,” according to the listing.
There are carved travertine fireplaces, heated floors, custom murals, walls of glass, groin vaulting, and one of the most impressive staircases we’ve ever seen.
The primary suite is palatial, with palladium windows, a private deck, custom-built closet, bathing suite, and kitchenette.
Nothing is basic in this palazzo, from the home theater with a marble-topped bar and brocade-tufted walls, to the banquet-sized wine room and adjacent 1,100-bottle cellar.
The grounds are impeccably landscaped with fountains and rolling lawns. Statuary dot the grounds. There’s also a “Chanel-style” pool along with a separate spa.
After overseeing the construction of such opulent and customized digs, how could Gibson ever decide to leave? The Wall Street Journal reported that, at this point in her life, the estate is too large, and she says she’d like to downsize and travel. We certainly understand.
