J-Lo and A-Rod Score a Deal on the Jeremy Piven Beach House

A-list couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez continue to expand their residential real estate empire from coast to coast. The couple’s latest acquisition is the $6.6 million purchase of Jeremy Piven‘s three-story beach house in Malibu, CA.
The dynamic duo snagged a bit of a beachfront bargain. Piven’s place had bounced on and off the market since May 2017, for prices as high as $10.5 million. The home was also listed as a luxury lease opportunity at $40,000 a month.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home was most recently priced at $7.75 million before closing in late January. But Piven didn’t take an enormous hit to his bottom line: The actor bought the 2,424-square-foot home in 2004 for $3.5 million.
Piven spent about $1.5 million on renovations to the home, which was built in 1949. He added Southeast Asian touches, including an intricately carved wooden swing on the first-floor balcony.
But there’s one element that didn’t require any sort of improvement: the 50-foot expanse of sandy beach right outside the door.
Piven also updated the kitchen, adding a Viking gas range, stainless-steel appliances, white cabinets, and a breakfast bar with seating for four.
The spacious, white interior was bound to appeal to Lopez, who is well-known for her penchant for white interior design.
Other luxe amenities include the home theater, master suite with oceanfront balcony, game room, spa, sauna, and yoga space. What more could you want in a beach getaway?
And with so many other posh properties in their portfolio, a getaway is probably what their new Malibu beach house will be. Rodriguez has another coastal home in Coral Gables, FL, and the two paid $15.3 million for a condo on Park Avenue in Manhattan. They also own two mansions in Southern California, one in Bel Air and the other in the Hollywood Hills.
