150 Million Spec Home for Sale on Star-Studded Street
If this street could talk! Developers are hoping the star-dust spread by the likes of entertainment icons such as Barbra Streisand, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra can help sell this brand new spec home on notorious Carolwood Drive, for a jaw dropping $150 million.
Described as “one of the most exclusive and expensive streets in the world,” this is the place where Walt Disney chose to live and build his famous miniature working replica of the steam train that runs through Disneyland. Disney drew up his visionary plans for Disneyland while living on Carolwood Drive. Celebrated actors Clark Gable and Gregory Peck both made Carolwood Drive their home. The “Chairman of the Board” Frank Sinatra resided on the street, directly across from this property. Rod Stewart also called Carolwood Drive home, as did Sonny and Cher, Tony Curtis and Elvis Presley.
As if that’s not enough, two of the top sales in the nation took place on Carolwood Drive within the past two years, including the sale of the Fleur de Lys in the spring of 2014. But perhaps the biggest star power of all included in this property’s pedigree is the fact that the new home was built on the legendary grounds of the former “Mon Rêve” estate owned in the past by Barbra Streisand.
Of course, this property is not selling on star power alone. The new residence, listed by Ginger Glass of Coldwell Banker, features more than 470 feet of frontage on Carolwood Drive, and behind the gates are approximately 38,000 square feet of living space, surrounded by private hiking trails shaded by mature trees.
Now known as “Club Mon Rêve,” the estate features a lounge, wine room,
and movie theater complex with a separate valet entrance for guests, and parking for more than fifty cars, in addition to a ten-car garage. The spa level has a dramatic indoor water wall spilling into a lap pool and hot tub, a hair salon with a manicure/pedicure area, plus steam and massage rooms.
The master suite spans approximately 5,300 square feet, including a private, heated, covered patio. The listing states that including guest and servants’ quarters, there are a whopping 20 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms. You would expect nothing less from this 150 million spec home.
