The Polo Residence — Live Like a Movie Star for Under $3 Million
A contemporary home that was custom-designed for a celebrity, in one of the Los Angeles area’s most desired beach communities? Yes please! The Polo residence, the Manhattan Beach house built for actress Teri Polo, just hit the market for $2,750,000,and we’re thinking it just might be snapped up by the time we get this posted.
Polo was best known for her starring roles in Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers, and is currently starring in the hit TV show The Fosters. In between, she’s had recurring roles in other TV shows such as Law & Order, The West Wing, The Practice, Sports Night and Northern Exposure. Fred Joyal of 1800 Dentist bought the home in 2009 for $1.95 million.
Polo purchased the property in 2002 for a mere $830,000, then had it completely rebuilt by famed architect and designer Steve Lazar. It has five bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths in 3,077 square feet of space on a 4,436 square foot lot in the coveted tree streets of Manhattan Beach.
Among its more arresting features are barrel vaulted ceilings, high clearstory windows, brushed aluminum windowsills, acid-etched concrete flooring and inverted baseboards, with vibrant cherry wood finishes throughout. There’s a gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and custom barrel soffits. Adjacent to the kitchen is a butler’s pantry with a wine cooler.
Most of the bedrooms feature balconies and private baths. The Master suite, illuminated by recessed lighting, includes a large, walk-in closet and a custom bath with a free standing tub, a double headed shower and dual sinks on opposite sides of the room.
Downstairs there’s a family room with a fireplace and French doors, and an elegant den, both with barrel vaulted ceilings.
The Manhattan Beach area is not only popular with movie and TV stars like Owen Wilson, Zoey Deschanel and Vince Vaughn, but prominent athletes including Blake Griffen, Matt Leinart, Michael Strahan (who also happens to be a TV star) and Maria Sharapova. You never know who you’ll run into at the local Bristol Farms.
The property is represented by Nathaniel Pitchon-Getzels of Getzels Homes and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. If you’re interested, get in touch!
